Contemporary luxury brands Poliform, Antonio Lupi, Lualdi, Ethimo and more will be featured at Unscripted Spaces, the upcoming furniture retailer’s 4,100-square-foot showroom that will officially debut at 7730 Girard Ave on Sunday, Nov. 24. of the La Jolla Holiday Open House.

Owner Jessica Chepovsky says the business will help interior designers and homeowners achieve their goals from concept to completion.

“Being part of a company owned and operated by women empowers and supports the growth and leadership of women in the workplace,” Chepovsky said. “As an owner, I am proud to help other women grow in their careers and share my knowledge and experience.”

How to Wellness Acupuncture

The new clinic at 909 Prospect St. aims to promote health in its many forms.

The Way to Wellness Acupuncture focuses on pain management, women’s and reproductive health and emotional balance, among other health benefits.

The business will hold a soft opening on Saturday, November 16, followed by an official opening on November 18.

Owner Yahui Hou said he loves the area and looks forward to “benefiting the La Jolla community” by working with other local businesses.

Thread + Seed

The technology is at the forefront of Thread + Seed, a retailer that provides retail and online stores with artificial intelligence-driven tools for consumers.

Thread + Seed will hold a ribbon-cutting from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 30, at 7863 Girard Ave. The store will offer personalized experiences where customers are booked with a stylist both online and in person to choose their clothes. It also has fashion quizzes to help customers choose items that suit their needs.

By 2025, Thread + Seed plans to launch an AI-powered app that curates products and makes recommendations based on user preferences.

The launch event is by RSVP only and is limited to 75 guests. A VIP hour from 9 to 10 a.m. will include mimosas, special gift bags and a keynote address from Melanie Michaud.

Respect Pilates

After a soft opening Oct. 28, Honor Pilates at 7734 Girard Ave. focuses on creating a place “where people can come together and feel connected to each other” through Pilates group classes, owner Kimi Evans said.

Honor Pilates includes both classic Pilates and modern Pilates with standard machines.

Evans started Pilates because of back injuries from his time as a snowboarder, surfer, kickboxer and competitive hula dancer. He owned Pilates Plus in Pacific Beach for 14 years before expanding to La Jolla.

Alma Style

Alma Style, a new boutique, just opened at 1266 Prospect St., and owner Alma Swanson is planning a grand opening party on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

Swanson, an image consultant and stylist, described the boutique as casual with a European influence. He lived in the United Kingdom and Milan, Italy, before moving to California in 2016.

Left Coast Grooming

The people of La Jolla have many new businesses to explore, but dogs are not left out.

Left Coast Grooming officially opened Oct. 29 at 7443 La Jolla Blvd., offers haircuts for all styles. Owner Ashley Dorsey said she hopes to offer canine treats in the future and specialize in training bichon frize dogs.

Dorsey has worked in the beauty industry for nine years, 3½ of them in La Jolla. After working at The Dogg Lounge in La Jolla and La Jolla Grooming Co., he now owns his own business.

“La Jolla has always been special to me, as I went to La Jolla Country Day School for most of my schooling,” Dorsey said. “It made a lot of sense for me to open my own beauty salon [La Jolla].”

George’s Cove renovations

George’s at the Cove restaurant at 1250 Prospect St., which celebrated 40 years in August, is renovating its Level2 bar.

The project started on 4 Oct. and is expected to continue until November. Level2 will feature new tile floors with water-facing seating, dining tables, lighting fixtures and a roof with retractable awnings. Additional features will be added or modified.

During the renovations, the George Ocean Terrace rooftop will remain open. The restaurant plans to renovate the terrace by the end of 2025.

Queenstown Village ‘on the street’

The outdoor restaurant is located in front of Queenstown Village at 1044 Wall St. has raised questions from some residents because two parking spaces – one outside each of the restaurant’s locations – are blocked off except for the six that are located on the “street.”

The street is considered an extension of the food and beverage center under the city of San Diego’s “Spaces as Places” program.

City spokesman Richard Berg said Queenstown has a Regional road permit and that its use of tires to block the other two areas is included.

“The placement of wheelie bins in Queenstown is in line with the approved plans,” said Berg. “Bike stops with lights must be added at each end of the street. Parking spaces where the wheels stand are adjacent to the business; therefore, parking spaces are allowed to be part of the street.”

Echoes Boutique

New owner Elaina Gareta, who took over Echoes Boutique at 7705 Fay Ave. on Aug. 1, says it aims to provide consumers with pre-designed fashion items at affordable prices.

Echoes Boutique is a thrift store that offers brands such as Kate Spade and Chanel with the help of the community.

Gareta says she was initially nervous at the prospect of working at the store, but has since felt the support of La Jollans and her friend and business partner, Viktoriia Moghilevets.

Among Gareta’s goals, he said, is to prevent waste from fast fashion.

A new restaurant is coming to the Theater District neighborhood

A new venture from restaurateurs Accursio Lota and Corinne Goria of North Park’s Cori Trattoria Pastificio is coming to UC San Diego’s Theater District Living and Learning Neighborhood next summer.

The neighborhood, located near the La Jolla Playhouse, is a mixed-use development intended to address the high demand for on-campus student housing.

The upcoming 120-seat restaurant, which has yet to be named, will cover 2,600 square feet and 1,400 square feet of space. Other features include an open kitchen serving southern Italian dishes with Southern California ingredients.

A key part of the restaurant will be its partnership with the La Jolla Playhouse. It will include an abbreviated pre-show dinner option, and theatergoers will have access to a post-show cocktail at the bar.
